You can subscribe to your shifts from Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or any app that supports calendar subscriptions. Your shifts then stay up to date automatically as you change them in ShiftSync, and you can add an alarm before each shift. Each feed is a link you create — and can delete at any time to revoke access.
Create a calendar feed
- Open Settings from the main menu — the left sidebar on desktop, or the menu behind your avatar on mobile.
- Select the Calendar feeds tab.
- Select Add calendar feed.
- Give it a Name, for example My phone.
- Under What to include, choose one:
- Everything (my own calendar) — all your public and private shifts, including notes. Best for your own devices.
- Shared (public shifts only) — only your public shifts, with notes hidden. Safe to give to someone else.
- (Optional) Under Reminders, tick when you’d like a reminder before each shift — for example 30 minutes before. For a time that isn’t listed, type a number under Custom, choose minutes, hours or days, and select Add — for example 90 minutes before. You can set up to five reminders in total. To limit reminders to some shifts, tick Only remind me for certain shift types and choose them.
- (Optional) Tick Only include certain shift types to add just some of your shifts to this feed.
- Select Save.
Add it to your calendar
- On the feed you created, select Copy link.
- In your calendar app, choose Subscribe to calendar (or Add by URL) and paste the link.

Get an alarm or reminder before a shift
ShiftSync can add an alarm before each shift to the feed. Because your shifts sit in your calendar app, the alarm is delivered by that app — the same way it reminds you about any other event — so it still works when ShiftSync isn’t open. This is the way to get a wake-up alarm for an early or night shift.
- When you create or edit a feed, tick one or more times under Reminders — for example 1 hour before and 10 minutes before — or add a custom time (for example 90 minutes before) by typing a number under Custom, choosing its unit and selecting Add.
- To set an alarm for only some shifts (say, just your night shifts), tick Only remind me for certain shift types and choose them.
- Select Save. If you’ve already subscribed, your calendar app picks up the change on its next refresh.
Whether the alarm plays a sound or shows a banner depends on your calendar app and your phone’s notification settings for it — check those if you’re relying on it to wake you for a shift.
Revoke a feed
To stop sharing a feed, select Delete on it and confirm. The link stops working immediately, so anyone subscribed to it stops receiving your shifts. Create a separate feed for each device or person, so you can revoke just the one you need to.
Keep your links private
A feed link lets anyone who has it see the shifts in that feed, so only share it with apps and people you trust. If a link is ever exposed, delete that feed to revoke it and create a new one.
