Once you’ve added a passkey, you can sign in without your password.

Sign in with a passkey

  1. Open the log-in page. Its heading reads Welcome back.
  2. Select Sign in with a passkey.
  3. Confirm with Touch ID, Face ID, your PIN, security key, or password manager — the same way you set the passkey up. You’re signed straight in.

Your browser or password manager may also offer your passkey directly from the Email address field as you select it — pick it there to sign in without even using the button.

If two-factor authentication is turned on, a passkey still signs you straight in — you won’t be asked for a separate code, because confirming the passkey already proves it’s you.

When ShiftSync asks you to sign in again

If your session expires while you’re using the app, a Please reauthenticate to continue box appears. You can use your passkey here too — select Sign in with a passkey and confirm, and you’re straight back in with your work intact.

Unlike the log-in page, this box won’t offer your passkey from the Email address field: use the button. And because it’s tied to the account you were already signed in as, picking a passkey for a different ShiftSync account won’t work — you’ll be asked to try again, and nothing you haven’t synced yet is lost.

If you don’t see the option

  • Sign in with a passkey appears only on browsers that support passkeys. On an unsupported browser, sign in with your email and password as usual.
  • You need to have added a passkey first — otherwise there’s nothing for the button to offer.
