A friend request is how two people connect on ShiftSync so they can see each other’s shifts. Here’s what’s going on behind the scenes.
A request is tied to an email address
When you invite a friend, the request is sent to the exact email address you typed. Only an account signed in with that address can accept it — so if your friend signs in with a different email, send the request to that one.
What the other person receives
The request lands on the recipient’s Invites tab on their Friends screen. If they have notifications switched on, they’ll also get an email and a push notification letting them know.
Until they respond, the request stays pending — nothing is shared yet.
What accepting does
Accepting a request creates a two-way friendship: from then on you each appear in the other’s friends list and can see each other’s calendars, subject to each shift’s visibility. Declining a request creates nothing and simply removes it.
A note on safety
Friends can see your shifts, so only accept requests from people you know. ShiftSync warns you of this on any invite — if you do not know the person, you should not accept their invite.
