ShiftSync can estimate your pre-tax pay from your shifts. To do that it needs to know your hourly rate and any enhancement rules — extra pay that depends on when a shift falls (for example more on nights and weekends). You set these up under Settings → Pay, and the Expected pay report uses them.

Pay preferences

In Settings → Pay, under Pay preferences:

  • Default hourly rate — your base rate per hour. Leave it blank if every template has its own rate.
  • Currency — the currency your pay is shown in.

Enhancement rules are worked out in your timezone, which you set under Settings → General (see Set your timezone) — a “weekday night” rule needs to know when your local night is, so make sure it matches where you work.

A rate for one template

If different shifts pay different base rates, you can set a rate on an individual template instead of (or as well as) the default. Open a template, fill in Hourly rate, and it overrides your default rate for shifts on that template. See what are templates?.

Enhancement rules

Rules add an uplift on top of your base pay based on when a shift falls. Under Enhancement rules, select Add rule and fill in:

  • Name — what the rule is for, e.g. Weekday nights.
  • Days — the days it applies on. Leave them all unticked to apply on any day.
  • Applies all day, or a From / To time window. An end time earlier than the start wraps past midnight — so 20:00 to 06:00 covers the whole night.
  • Enhancement type — a Percentage uplift (e.g. +30%) or a Fixed amount per hour.
  • Uplift — the amount, depending on the type you chose.
  • Priority — lower numbers are checked first. Only the first matching rule applies to any moment, so put more specific rules (like Sunday) above more general ones.

A nurse, for example, might add: Weekday nights (Mon–Fri, 20:00–06:00, +30%), Saturday (all day, +30%) and Sunday (all day, +60%).

How rules are matched across midnight

Each hour of a shift is matched by the actual day it falls on, not the day the night began. So a Friday-night shift that runs 20:00 → 06:00 is treated as Friday until midnight and then Saturday from 00:00. A “Mon–Fri nights” rule covers only the Friday part — to pay the Saturday morning, add a Saturday rule (the nurse setup above already does). This keeps things unambiguous: every minute matches exactly one rule.
