A shift is an entry on a day of your calendar, built from a template. It might be a timed working shift or an all-day entry like annual leave or a day off. Pick a template, choose the day, and ShiftSync creates a shift that takes the template’s title, times, colour, icon, visibility and notes.

For example, if you have an Early template that runs 06:00–14:00 in orange, adding it to Monday creates an Early shift on Monday. The template is the reusable pattern; the shift is that pattern placed on a real date.

What a shift takes from its template

Every shift starts from a template and inherits its:

  • Title and short title
  • Start time and end time (or All day)
  • Colour and icon
  • Visibility — who can see it
  • Notes

What you can change per shift

Most details belong to the template, but a single shift can override some of them without changing the template or any other shift:

  • Its date, or an end date so the shift spans several days
  • Its times, if your account allows changing shift times
  • Its notes
  • Its visibility
